The view from up here

Last time I was in Vegas for Thanksgiving, we went hiking in Red Rock Canyon. One thing I miss about living in Florida is elevation. Seriously, I don’t think we even have hills around here! (and by the way, I thought I took a lot of pictures last year – 103 – I took 241 this year!)

We went to this super cool park for my nephew’s birthday this year – stay tuned for the post about that because you have to see the cake my SIL created – and part of the park included a climbing trail.

My brother, the two older kids, the dog (a female boxer named Leila of course), and I set off up the trail. It was the perfect way to work of an potential post cake highs.

And while I got this great picture of my brother and his kids…

… these are the ones he got of me.

And people wonder why I prefer to take my own pictures.

My mom hates these pictures

As I mentioned in my previous post, I spent an extended Thanksgiving break with my family at my brother’s house in Vegas.

It was a really great time that actually included helping my mom sign up for Facebook. Yup – that’s right, my mom and I are Facebook friends!

Anyway, as she gets more and more tech savvy, I have to deal with the ‘consequences’. Like, her critique of my picture taking abilities. Specifically, she hates it when I hold the camera out to take pictures of myself. She says that it is ‘less than flattering’.

Well, I agree with her, but my niece loves it and – let’s face it – its funny! So, guess what we did the day after she left…

Yes we can have our cake…

… and eat it too!

and let me tell you – it was GOOD!

Back from my extended Thanksgiving break with many posts and pictures to follow, but first I have to get caught up at work!

January: I went to the eye doctor yesterday.

February: This morning my Dexcom sensor refused to record any BG values despite numerous restarts.

March: Suddenly I am accosted by one of the worst smells that I have ever experienced.

April: “Excuse me?” said the elderly voice behind me. “Is that a microphone you’re wearing?”

May: If I was in trouble, I am not sure that this would be the crowd I would like to see!

June: We had a minor celebrity come into the office today.

August: I have the keys to my new apartment!

September: You answer the knock at your door and are greeted by two students ‘mooning’ you.

October: I just knew celebrities got special treatment – I mean they are even hiding a diabetes cure from the rest of us!

November: During this Thanksgiving season, I though I would tell the story of how I was diagnosed.
