“Why should accidents of geography decide whether you live or die from diabetes?”
After the session with Jeffrey Brewer from JDRF (which I posted about yesterday), the group was privileged enough to hear from Jean Claude Mbanya, the President of the International Diabetes Federation.
The International Diabetes Federation “is engaged in action to tackle diabetes from the local to the global level – from programmes at community level to worldwide awareness and advocacy initiatives (source).” They provide education and work globally to change policies that will improve the lives of people with diabetes.
“Diabetes affects people”
Their current project – O is for Outrage – is related to an upcoming UN Summit on global health issues. IDF has organized a postcard campaign to alert President Obama about the seriousness of this issue and the number of people who are asking him to represent us to the world.
If you live in the Unites States (and I suppose even if you don’t) visit their O is for Outrage page to fill out and submit a postcard. If you are a blogger, you can also find a banner ad there to add to your site.
